10 minute flawless-matte glam

“Beneath the makeup and behind the smile I am just a girl who wishes for the world.”

― Marilyn Monroe

Let’s talk makeup!

For years, I’ve experimented with various techniques and products. I’ve learned everything on my own (before YouTube or any other cosmetic tutorials). From using department store products to luxury lines…I’ve pretty much tried them all!

Confidence ladies!

I can finally say, I am confident with my artful process and the products I use in achieving the flawless-matte #glam! #glowup

I often get asked a lot of questions about my makeup – mainly how I create such a flawless-matte look (i.e. products I use, how I apply them, and any secrets). The biggest secret is, I don’t follow the rules! 😉 I have my own ways of applying and using my products.

For years, I’ve modified the process of how I apply makeup.

From personal experience,  you have to experiment (trial and error) a lot before you find the right product(s) that work well with your skin type/tone. Things that might’ve worked for others – might not have the same effect when applied to your skin.  It is important to understand the different products and how they work well with other products that you are using.

Note: Skincare is important. You’ll need to take care of your skin to ensure it is healthy. This will allow the makeup to simply enhances your natural glow. I will be sharing my skincare routine soon!

The goal here is to share my methods in hopes to help others in also achieving their perfect matte look. Together we will be flawless! #hairflip

Sharing it all!

So, I’ve decided to share everything here! I will be sharing my “go-to” flawless-matte look, the products I use, price range for each product, and additional tips/comments on how to apply them individually.

  • I will demonstrate how to apply the products in my tutorial video (below). This video is meant to show you how and what I use at every step.

  • I’ve also hyperlinked where you can buy each product that I use under Product Details (below)

Helpful: You can open the tutorial video and this post (side by side) to follow along while reading through the details for each product.

    • Tips/Comments
      • Use sparingly – a little goes a long way!
        1. Place a small pea-sized amount in the palm of your hands.
        2. Use your index finger to dap the primer (from the palm of your hands) onto different parts of your face.
        3. Gently rub the primer all over your face. Your skin will feel silky and smooth! 🙂
        4. Allow this to set for 10-15 seconds before apply any products.

  • Maybelline Super Stay Foundation Stick
    • Price: $11.99 (US)
    • Tips/Comments
      • Use with MAC Foundation Brush #190 or alternative brush of your choice!
      • Use as an all-over eye concealer (not as a foundation) – this helps to avoid eye creases!
      • I recommend using a lighter (warmer) shade to highlight your eyes.
      • Cheaper alternatives for Thick Concealers Sticks on Amazon.

  • MAC Foundation Brush #190
    • Price: $35.00 (US)
    • Tips/Comments
      • Use when applying Maybelline Super Stay Foundation Stick.
      • This brush gives you full control! The closer you hold the handle (towards the bristles) the more control you have to guide the brush (full coverage).  The further you hold the handle the less control (less coverage) you’ll have. I recommend holding the handle closer (towards the bristles) to ensure full coverage over the eye area (including eyelids). You can hold the brush further away as you come down towards your cheeks – applying less pressure to help spread the product.
      • Cheaper alternatives for Foundation Brush on Amazon.

  • Sonia Kashuk Flat-Top Foundation Brush
    • Price: $9.00 – 24.00 (US)
    • Tips/Comments
      • Use when applying MAC Studio Fix Fluid (foundation).
      • The flat surface, thickness, and durability of the bristles help to buff out creases/lines – giving you full coverage!
      • To create an airbrushed look – gently pat the brush around your face to evenly spread the foundation.
      • Do not apply too much pressure with this brush – remember gentle pats!
      • Do not directly paint the foundation onto your face with the brush.
      • Applying too much pressure or painting the foundation will pack on the foundation and will not create the flawless-airbrush look 😦
      • Cheaper alternatives for Flat-Top Foundation Brush on Amazon.

  • MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 (Foundation)
    • Price: $31.00 (US)
    • Tips/Comments
      • Use with Sonia Kashuk Flat-Top Foundation Brush or another flat-top foundation brush of your choice!
      • A few drops of this foundation will give you full coverage – the fluid is superb and thick!
      • You may not need additional concealer or color corrector when using this foundation because of it’s thick consistency. Just gently pat over any areas that need special attention and see how well this baby covers!
      • Has special yellow pigments to better match those that have more yellow undertone (like me) in their skin. 🙂
      • Did you know about the MAC recycling program?  MAC encourages you to collect & return 6 empty containers (this includes: foundation bottles, eye shadows, lip gloss/stick, powder containers) to any MAC, Macy’s, or Nordstrom store.  You’ll get a credit of $17.00 – $18.50 that can be (only) used towards (either) an eye shadow, lip gloss, or lipstick. The catch is, different stores offer different options. I’d suggest calling the store in advance to understand their recycle program options ahead of time. 🙂

      • You can use any Beauty Blender (does not need to be sapphire) or other beauty sponges that you prefer.
      • Squeeze and release the beauty blender sponge under cold water until it has doubled in size. Cold water helps to protect and tighten pores!
      • Squeeze out any excess water – the beauty blender sponge should be moist (not wet).

  • Tweezerman Onyx Dramatic Eyelash Curler
    • Price: $16.00 (US)
    • Tips/Comments
      • I love how this curler works! It dramatically changes my natural lashes (yes, those are my natural lashes in the video) instantly!
      • I personally like to curl my lashes before putting on mascara. You can do it either way. 🙂
      • Press and release for 10-15 times on each eye – the longer you press the more curl you’ll get!
      • Be sure to wipe off the curler with a soft cloth or tissue before curling the other eyelash.
      • You can use any brand of eyelash curlers – if you want a dramatic curl, look for curlers that have a tighter grip/small finger press range.
      • Wash your curler after each use to ensure it is sanitized. 🙂
      • Alternatives for Eyelash Curler on Amazon.

  • Too Faced – Better Than Sex (Waterproof) Mascara

      • The best voluminous mascara on the planet! I’ve used every brand of mascara (from the cheapest to the most expensive) and this one takes the lead!
      • You can layer multiple coats for a bold, dramatic look –  just allow each coat to fully dry before applying the next coat!
      • It contains porcelain flower extracts that condition the lashes (sounds beautiful) – preventing flaking. Finally a non-flaking mascara! #thankful

  • Laura Mercier Tightline Cake (Ebony) Eyeliner
    • Price: $25.00 (US)
    • Tips/Comments
      • Use with Make Up For Ever – Extra Fine Eyeliner Brush #250 or alternative brush of your choice!
      • The texture of this eyeliner looks like a tightly pressed powder/eyeshadow – but it’s not!
      • Once this is paired with an extra-fine eyeliner brush, mix in a drop of water to create the liner paste! Now, you’re ready to “wing” it! Literally 🙂
      • I highly recommend this eyeliner because –
        • it is easy to use
        • it WILL NOT smudge

      • I love personally love dark, bold eyebrows and this pomade definitely delivers!
      • I do recommend practicing with an angled eyebrow brush so you get a feel for the brush/strokes, texture, and how the pomade spreads across your eyebrows.
      • Use a little at a time as you start to fill in/ bring shape to your eyebrows. You can add more pomade to darken your brows once you’ve achieved the shape. 🙂
