Growing up, my dad would occasionally make Fijian lamb sausage as a stir-fried appetizer dish. He would sauté the sausage with onions, garlic, bell peppers, and other indian spices. So, when my husband brought home kielbasa (he is half Polish) for the first time – it brought back a lot of memories! I asked (of course) before I gave the kielbasa a Fijian twist (*heart eyes*).
Since then, I have mastered this quick and delicious dish (that I just made tonight) that goes well with garlic noodles and a side of veggies – here we used broccoli’s!
Cooking time: 20-30 minutes
- 1 full Kielbasa (we used turkey) sausage or substitute for a non-meat sausage of your choice
- 1 tsp of Olive oil
- 1 tsp of dried onion or onion powder
- 1 tsp of McCormick Grill Mates Montreal Chicken seasoning
- 5 cups of water
- 1 tbs of salt (optional)
- 6 ounces of Rotini or pasta noodles of your choice
- 1 tbs of melted butter (you can add more if you’d like)
- 2 tsp of garlic powder
- Splash of lemon juice (optional for taste)
Prep & Cooking
Kielbasa (cook time: 10 minutes)
- Cut your Kielbasa into round diagonal cuts (see image for more details)
- In a separate pan (on medium heat) pour in the olive oil
- Add the dried onion (or onion powder) and McCormick Grill Mates Montreal Chicken seasoning and stir until seasoning are mixed and you can smell the aroma of the spices
- Add in the Kielbasa and stir until spices are all mixed together
- Continue stirring on medium heat for a few minutes. I usually sauté until some pieces are golden brown (usually 5-7 minutes).
Garlic Noodles (cook time: 10 minutes)
- Place 5 cups of water in a large pot and bring the water to a boil
- Salt the water with at least a tablespoon—more is fine (but not necessary). The salty water usually adds flavor to the pasta noodles =]
- Add in the pasta noodles of your choice
- Stir the pasta occasionally so it doesn’t stick
- Test the pasta by tasting a piece to ensure it is soft/cooked
- Drain the pasta in a colander
- In a bowl mix the melted butter, garlic powder, and splash of lemon juice to make mixture
- Put pasta back into the same pot on low heat
- Add the mixture into the pasta and stir occasionally until the mixture is fully mixed.
